The Commercial Manager will require knowledge and experience in pre and post contract management and procurement within commercial contract management ideally in the Utilities sectors or the rail/infrastructure sectors. You will be expected to utilize experience and knowledge of supplier relationships and contract management to drive efficiencies in the supply chain. Working as part of projects and programmes to deliver the strategic aims of their designated portfolios.
The Commercial Manager will have extensive, proven experience of commercial management within organisations, projects and programmes. Member of a relevant professional institute with Chartered status.
Key Responsibilities- Manage, monitor and report on all commercial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with client Corporate Governance and cost reporting requirements.
- Lead commercial review, valuation and approval of high value/high risk contractor applications per contractual terms.
- Provide expert advice on change control, scope changes and risk mitigation for projects and programs.
- Prepare and process client payment applications/invoices, attend valuation meetings, manage commercial correspondence and contractual notices.
- Lead final account settlements and project closeouts within agreed timelines.
- Support cost analysis, benchmarking and continual improvement of estimating processes.
- Assist in pre-contract procurement, negotiation of contract prices, provide NEC & JCT contract and procurement advice.
- Oversee commercial management: cost estimates, procurement, subcontracts, actuals vs. forecast and variance analysis.
- Manage contract administration, change events, final accounts and supply chain relationships.
- Identify and mitigate project/program risk, including disputes and disallowed costs.
- Ensure adherence to project governance, reporting and risk management procedures.
- Manage project portfolios, liaise with functional teams, Project Boards and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
- Contract (NEC & JCT) and procurement advice to help support the project team.
