About Mous
We are Mous. (Pronounced mouse, not moose.) People deserve tech and lifestyle products that are fit for purpose, perform as promised, and empower them to be their best. That’s why we’re building the go-to brand for products that genuinely deliver. For over 10 years, we’ve pushed product performance to its limits, designing from first principles, validating through real-world testing, and investing millions in R&D. In parallel, we’ve built world-class in-house marketing capabilities, creating highly engaging, performance-led content that proves what our products can do and resonates with a passionate, fast-growing community around the brand. From throwing phones off dams to launching category-defining products, our ambition is simple: raise the standard of the industry and build one of the most effective consumer brands in the world.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Category Manager to own the strategy, range, and commercial performance of one of our core categories, whether that’s tech accessories (phone cases, MagSafe, and laptop protection) or travel (wallets, bags, and organisers). This is a high-ownership role within the Commercial team. You’ll be the internal expert on your category’s market, understanding customer behaviour, competitive dynamics, and range architecture. You’ll also be the expert in the current performance of your category, understanding exactly where the sales are coming from, what is working and what isn’t. You’ll use this insight to make genuine change and drive growth within your category. You’ll work closely with Product, S&OP, Marketing, Growth, E-Commerce, and Internationalisation to decide what we build, how we price it, how we position it, and how it performs. There’s real scope to grow in responsibility and influence, and the chance to shape a category that sits at the centre of what Mous does.
About You
You’re numbers-led and data-backed. You make decisions from evidence, not instinct alone, and you can turn a spreadsheet into a clear view of what’s working and what isn’t. You’re just as comfortable questioning a forecast as you are presenting a recommendation. You bring a sharp, analytical mindset and a strong commercial head. You’re confident with the detail, and you use it to sharpen judgement rather than slow decisions down. You’re able to turn these data-led, commercial insights into creative solutions and opportunities for growth across every lever; including content ideas, spend strategy, and pricing optimisation. You thrive in a fast-moving environment, are motivated by ownership, and are excited to bring that rigour to a range that’s ready to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the range for your category from a commercial perspective, including product coverage, tiers (good, better, best), and SKU decisions – working closely with the product team.
- Lead category strategy and annual planning, setting clear goals for revenue, margin, and market position.
- Track market and product timing so we have the right products ready for key launch windows and trading moments, working closely with Product on briefs and timelines.
- Bring consumer and market insight into new product development.
- Work with the Data team on pricing analysis, and with the Head of Commercial to set and maintain category pricing.
- Partner with Marketing and Growth on content and campaign planning, making sure category priorities are clearly briefed.
- Work with S&OP on forecasting and reordering, so we have the right stock at the right time.
- Support the Internationalisation team on market-specific range and pricing.
- Own the category P&L, tracking revenue, margin and sell-through against plan, and flag risks and opportunities early.
- Keep an eye on competitors and market trends, so we know where Mous stands and where the biggest opportunities are.
How will success be measured?
- A clear, well-reasoned range with defined logic for coverage and tiers.
- Category revenue and margin targets met or beaten, with risks spotted early.
- Products briefed and launched in line with key windows, with no major gaps in coverage.
- Strong working relationships with Product, S&OP, Marketing, Growth, and E-Commerce.
- A clear understanding of your category’s customers and competitive landscape.
- Profitable growth of your category.
Skills requirements:
Hard skills:
- Strong commercial sense, and comfortable reading, building, and owning a P&L.
- Experience in category management, buying, or product marketing within a consumer goods or D2C business.
- Confident using data to make range, pricing, and forecasting decisions.
- Proficiency in Excel or equivalent for commercial modelling and reporting.
Soft skills:
- Highly organised, able to manage several workstreams at once.
- A natural collaborator who can influence without direct authority.
- Detail-oriented and commercially minded in equal measure.
- Proactive and self-directed, able to spot problems and drive solutions.
- Clear and confident communicator, able to present ideas to senior stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Proven experience in a category management, product, buying, or commercial role.
- Experience with Amazon and DTC channel planning.
- Familiarity with S&OP and inventory planning.
- Knowledge of tech accessories or lifestyle and travel markets.
