Mountain Youth Academy is a residential program dedicated to supporting youth in a structured, therapeutic environment. We serve students ages 5-17 who benefit from individualized academic instruction, social-emotional support, and consistent adult mentorship. Our mission is to provide a safe, stable setting where young people can heal, grow, and achieve academic success.

The Residential Teacher provides standards-aligned academic instruction within a residential care setting. This role combines classroom teaching with mentorship and collaboration alongside residential counselors, clinicians, and case managers. The ideal candidate is flexible, trauma-informed, and passionate about helping youth overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instruction & Academic Support
    • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with state standards
    • Provide individualized instruction to meet IEP and 504 plan requirements
    • Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records
    • Support credit recovery, tutoring, and academic skill-building
  • Student Development
    • Foster a safe, structured, and trauma-informed classroom environment
    • Support social-emotional learning and positive behaviour development
    • Serve as a consistent mentor and advocate for students
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Maintain compliance with state education regulations
    • Complete required documentation and progress reports in a timely manner

Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Valid state teaching license (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Preferred: Special Education endorsement
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, special education, or in alternative settings
  • Experience in residential treatment, therapeutic, or juvenile justice settings
  • Training in trauma-informed care or restorative practices
