Mountaineering Scotland has been working on behalf of hill walkers, climbers and ski tourers in Scotland for over 50 years. With more people than ever before exploring Scotland's mountains and indoor climbing venues, we are seeking an experienced, well-organised and enthusiastic Membership Admin Officer with great IT and people skills to join our team working on behalf of nearly 16,000 members as we launch a new strategy with ambitious targets to increase our membership and grow the organization.

Hours: Full time (37 hr/week)

Salary scale: £24,195 - £28,228 per annum depending on previous experience

Location: Perth (on-site)

This is a key role in the organization as part of the Member Services & Communications Team. The post holder will be the first point of contact for members, clubs and the public, providing excellent customer service and supporting the delivery of the Mountaineering Scotland membership strategy. The role will support membership recruitment, retention and engagement, event admin and the running of our head office based in Perth.

This is a full-time position working 37 hrs a week during normal office hours with the option to work flexibly to be agreed on appointment. The role is based in our Head Office in Perth; however, there is the potential for occasional home/remote working.

Essential attributes and skills

  • Relevant experience in an administrative or customer service role.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to interact with others in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word (including mail merge), Outlook, Teams and willingness to learn new applications as required.
  • Experience of using and administration of JustGo membership database or other CRM system.
  • Experience of data entry and ability to generate and write reports e.g., membership performance.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR/current data protection legislation and cyber security best practice.
  • Ability to use own initiative, prioritise and organise a busy workload and manage conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills, methodical approach to planning and attention to detail.
  • Creative, forward-thinking, flexible approach.
  • Available to attend occasional events out of office hours (weekends/evenings).

Desirable attributes and skills

  • Interest in and understanding of issues relevant to Scottish mountaineering and indoor climbing.
  • Experience of working within a membership organisation or as a member of a club.
  • Experience of organising and delivering events.
  • Previous experience of working with volunteers or in a voluntary organisation.
  • Experience of updating content on websites.
  • Experience of using Mailchimp or similar.
  • Experience of using social media in the workplace to promote events and engage with followers.
  • Experience of club development and support.
  • Full driving licence.
