Overview

As a Group Tax Accountant you will be part of the Tax and Customs Team responsible for Mountain Warehouse\’s day to day global tax compliance. The team ensures Mountain Warehouse meets its global tax compliance requirements, including corporation tax, indirect tax, customs and duty, and payroll taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the initial preparation of the more complex VAT and sales tax returns globally for the Mountain Warehouse organisation.
  • Review the simpler global VAT and sales tax returns.
  • Prepare and submit other compliance obligations such as Digital Platform Reporting, Intrastat, EC sales lists, etc.
  • Assist with the response to any local tax authority enquiries.
  • Research, provide technical analysis of and resolve tax queries as they arise.
  • Take ownership of processes and systems, understand current processes and lead continuous improvement.
  • Act as a point of contact for other finance teams and understand the impact of their processes on tax processes.
  • Provide tax training to the business and team members, with support from the Senior Tax Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Group Tax Team on ad-hoc projects (e.g., tax engine implementation, transfer pricing documentation, systems process developments).
  • Assist with the corporation tax compliance process, including capital allowances and transfer pricing analysis.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and prepare/post journals as part of the month-end process.
  • Support the preparation of year-end group tax provisioning and disclosures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3-5 years of tax experience.
  • Understanding of accounting principles.
  • Preferred: newly or part-qualified (with 1-2 exams remaining) accounting or tax technician.
  • Track record of delivering tax compliance effectively and efficiently.
  • A pragmatic problem-solving approach.
  • Experience in a fast-paced or commercial environment.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and engage with detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel to manage, analyse and reconcile data.
