Salary - £65,000–£75,000 + bonus + pension
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Control & Reporting
- Own and deliver accurate monthly group reporting across all entities (target: Day 5 close, currently Day 10+)
- Build proper multi-entity consolidation including intercompany eliminations
- Manage deferred revenue recognition (SaaS contracts), cost capitalisation and amortisation
- Produce board packs with variance analysis, KPIs and commercial commentary
- Produce sales and other reports to facilitate proper decision making
- Liaise with external accountants (Hillier Hopkins) to produce statutory accounts and tax returns
- Own the 13-week rolling cash flow forecast (currently limited to one subsidiary)
- Manage the £1m invoice discounting facility (Bibby) and lender relationships
- Oversee payment prioritisation and authorise payments
- Drive working capital improvements across the group
- Rationalise and standardise five Xero instances (chart of accounts, intercompany structure)
- Implement a consolidation and reporting layer to replace manual Excel processes
- Help shape the group’s future ERP strategy as the business outgrows Xero
- Improve payroll allocation processes across entities
- Enhance use of Unleashed (stock management) for COGS accuracy
- Oversee R&D tax relief claims (historically c.£150k p.a. cash benefit)
- Support Patent Box strategy development for proprietary technology
- Manage VAT compliance across the group including the Irish entity (70% owned)
- Work directly with the CEO and founders on commercial decision-making
- Support investor reporting and due diligence requirements
- Provide financial insight on project profitability, pricing and margin analysis
- Represent finance confidently to the board, investors and banking partners
Essential Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
- Proven FC or strong Finance Manager ready to step up
- Multi-entity group experience with consolidation responsibilities
- Strong Xero experience (multi-entity environment strongly preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills and confident use of modern finance apps and AI tools to drive efficiency
- Technically strong on revenue recognition, deferred income and capitalisation
- Hands-on, proactive and comfortable in a founder-led, fast-moving environment
- A genuine interest in technology systems and how they can transform finance operations
- Confident communicator — able to present to board, investors and external stakeholders
Desirable Qualifications
- Background in technology, SaaS, IoT or hardware-enabled businesses
- Experience with ERP systems beyond Xero — the group is approaching the point where it will need to transition
- Experience with acquisitive / bolt-on group structures
- Familiarity with R&D tax relief, Patent Box or grant-funded environments
- Experience with inventory management systems (e.g. Unleashed)
- Exposure to investor reporting, due diligence or fundraising processes

This is a role with a clear trajectory. The fractional CFO is in place to support the transition through 2026, after which the Financial Controller will be the senior finance leader in the group.
