About The Role
Base Location: The Horizon SARC, Birmingham.
Additional Locations Covering Warwickshire and West Mercia. Travel is expected between the two sites.
Salary: Β£43,005.072 (pro rata based on 40 hours per week) (Β£20.62 per hour).
Bank Positions Available.
Rota basis covering 24/7, 365 days per year.
SARC Shifts Are Structured Into The Following:
- 9-5pm
- 5pm-1am
- 1-9am
The successful candidate must be able to undertake all of these shift rotations.
Key Responsibilities
- Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
- Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
- Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
- 1st point of contact for victims, Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
- Manage and promote the self-referral pathway.
- Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
- Producing individual management plans.
- Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
- Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
- Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures.
Essential Skills Required
- Full NMC/HCP registration
- Good communication skills
- A minimum of 3 years acute care experience + relevant post qualification experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
- Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Experience of autonomous working
- Enthusiastic non-judgmental approach
- Full UK Drivers License and access to a vehicle
- Experience of working with vulnerable people
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
- MUST be able to offer 6 shifts per month
- Willingness to provide staff DNA elimination sample
- Willingness to undergo police vetting checks
- Lives within 45 minutes of B368GH
Desirable Skills Required
- Experience of working in SARC
- Awareness of forensic principles
- Knowledge of the Forensic science regulator code of practice, ISO 15189 and UKAS accreditation

Because of the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act, Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
Whilst the position may be based from one location, additional travel may be a requirement of the role across SARC\βs, therefore a UK driving licence is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required.
