The predicted salary is between 67000 - 74000 £ per year.

Base Location: The Elms SARC, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Park Road, Huntingdon, PE29 6NT. This role predominantly covers both paediatric and adult services. Some travel will be a requirement of this role. Weekend working and evenings is the main requirement but may be occasionally needed for in-hours shifts for resilience and training purposes.

Salary: £79,497-82,638 (pro rata). Part Time and Full Time considered. Rota: 9pm-9am Mon-Sun mainly on-call. There may be 9am-5pm weekday shifts and half day weekend shifts required.

As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in all specialities, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry and of course, Forensic and Sexual Offence Medicine.

The role of Sexual Offence Examiner is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. As a Sexual Offence Medical Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning as well as receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
  • Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
  • Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
  • Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
  • Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
  • Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
  • Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
  • Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures.

Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy.

Essential Skills Required

  • GMC-registered Doctor
  • A minimum of 3 years + relevant post Foundation experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Experience of working in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae.
  • Because of the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act, Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
  • A UK driving license is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
  • Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required. This requires residency for 3 years in the UK.
  • Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement.

  • Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine
  • Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments.
