This is the perfect opportunity for a compassionate person to join a growing, innovative and market-leading service provider within Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC). As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in all specialities, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry and of course, Forensic and Sexual Offence Medicine. Main duties of the job

  • Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
  • Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
  • Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
  • Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
  • Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
  • Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
  • Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
  • Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures.
  • Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy.

Job responsibilities

This role predominantly covers both paediatric and adult services. Some travel will be a requirement of this role. Weekend working and evenings may be occasionally needed for in-hours shifts for resilience and training purposes.

  • 1:1 monthly supervision with allocated mentor, safeguarding supervisor or Line Manager.
  • Additionally taking part in research, audit, teaching and sitting FFLM exams will be encouraged.

  • Full funding for courses and exams leading up to full Membership of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine in Sexual Offence Medicine.
  • Access to online appraisal software for revalidation.
  • Full Funding for courses required for work, e.g FMERSA.
  • Access to in hours appraisers, clinical mentors & clinical directors to support your career development and wellbeing.

Person Specification

  • GMC-registered Doctor.
  • A minimum of 3 years + relevant post Foundation experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Experience of working in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae.
  • Because of the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act, Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
  • A UK driving license is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
  • Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required. This requires residency for 3 years in the UK.
  • Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement.
  • Diploma in Legal Medicine.
  • Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine.
  • Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
