Do you want to use your clinical skills in a role focused on compassionate, trauma-informed care? We are seeking a GMC-registered Doctor to join our team. This is an opportunity to support children, young people and adults who access Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC) helping each patient feel safe, listened to and in control of their care. The role is for all ages covering both paediatric and adult services. There is a requirement for some travel as part of the role dependent on base location.
FTE salary: £80,504.16 - £90,056.21 (pro rata)
Contracted Hours: 24 hours per week. (Other part-time hours will be considered)
Shift pattern: Monday - Thursday 9am-3pm (Some ad hoc additional admin and training hours available)
Location: Penrith SARCs, CA11 8JA
The role of Sexual Offence Examiner is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. As a Sexual Offence Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning, as well as receiving support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
- Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
- Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
- Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
- Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
- Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
- Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
- Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures.

- Full funding for courses and exams leading up to full Membership of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine in Sexual Offence Medicine.

- Access to in hours appraisers, clinical mentors & clinical directors to support your career development and wellbeing.
- Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
- GMC-registered Doctor.
- A minimum of 3 years + relevant post Foundation experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
- Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
- Experience of working in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae.
- A UK driving license is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
- Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required. This requires residency for 3 years in the UK.
- Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement.
Desired:
- Diploma in Legal Medicine.
- Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine.
- Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments.

- Note that we cannot support International Visas.
- Police Vetting is a requirement of the post.
