Attendance Officer (Year 7-11)

37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Salary Range Grade G Point 8-12 (£26,824 - £28,598)

£23,648 - £25,212 (actual salary)

We have an exciting opportunity to add to our extensive and dynamic student support team, and are looking to appoint an excellent Attendance Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage the operational aspects of the attendance system including software (Go4Schools) and in-school processes.
  • To lead on key elements of the attendance strategy.
  • Use data to identify and prioritise attendance improvements in key vulnerable groups.
  • Co-ordinate the family support team in line with the EBSA strategy.
  • To take accurate information from parents /carers regarding student absence by telephone, email or directly from parents/carers.
  • To enter all notified absences (including lates), using the appropriate absence code, into the school’s MIS system.
  • To liaise with Pastoral Teams regarding vulnerable students not in school.
  • Liaise with Pastoral Teams, DSLs and SEND team regarding student absence and identify early poor attenders.
  • To follow school attendance procedures and send out appropriate attendance letters.
  • To liaise with parents and facilitate Attendance Improvement Plan meetings and phone calls when concerns arise.
  • To contact Alternative Providers daily for students’ attendance and update relevant Pastoral Team.
  • To ensure attendance marks (paper registers) are entered onto the MIS for teaching groups unable to be registered electronically.
  • To print off fire registers daily.
  • To monitor the correct completion of registers and inform the Assistant Headteacher of any concerns.
  • To collate, maintain and update attendance data.
  • To create and maintain weekly analysis documents that reflect patterns of non-attendance and those at risk of persistent absenteeism.
  • To update all unauthorised holiday/absence requests on the school’s MIS.
  • To complete referrals for Irregular Attendance, Section 19, Term Time Absence, Child Missing in Education, 15-day illness and any other relevant referrals required by the SASO team or EIPT.
  • To complete, monitor and review reduced timetables and ensure their compliance with local authority guidance.
  • To be part of and support the Family Support Team, including with home visits.
  • To carry out any other duties to support attendance as requested by the Assistant Headteacher who oversees Attendance.
  • To implement the school’s safeguarding policy.
