Main Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality PE lessons across the full primary age range, following the school’s curriculum and schemes of work.
- Teach a broad and balanced PE curriculum, including games, gymnastics, athletics and other physical activities.
- Assess and monitor pupils’ progress in PE, maintaining accurate records and adapting provision to meet individual needs.
- Prepare, train and support pupils to participate in inter-school competitions and sports fixtures.
- Attend and lead school teams at competitions and fixtures, including occasional after-school commitments.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive participation in all physical activities.
- Organise and deliver engaging lunchtime and extra-curricular sports activities that encourage high participation and enjoyment.
- Ensure safe management and organisation of equipment, spaces, and activities in line with health and safety requirements.
- Work closely with the PE Lead Teacher to develop and enhance the school’s PE and sports provision.
- Support the identification and development of pupils with particular sporting talents, as well as encouraging inclusive participation for all.
- Manage and supervise classes, ensuring a safe, positive and inclusive environment during all activities.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to support pupils’ wider development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development and whole-school initiatives.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including sports days, enrichment events, and community activities.
- Uphold and promote the school’s safeguarding, behaviour and equal opportunities policies at all times.
