Are you an experienced forklift operator looking to step into a more responsible, hands-on role? We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Lead Multi Skilled Forklift Driver to play a key role in keeping our yard operations running safely, smoothly and efficiently. This is a new role in the business and is a varied, practical role where no two days are the same.
You’ll work closely with the Shift Supervisor, support and guide other drivers, and take pride in maintaining a safe, well-organised site.
The position includes:
- Supporting the Shift Supervisor with the day-to-day coordination of yard operations
- Acting as the go-to person for forklift drivers during your shift, offering guidance and support
- Training and mentoring new team members, helping them develop safe and efficient working practices
- Operating forklifts and other handling equipment to move, load and unload produce and materials
- Ensuring all loads are secure and that people, equipment and buildings are protected
- Maintaining a safe working environment by monitoring activity and reporting hazards or near misses
- Keeping the yard clean, organised and running efficiently at all times
- Using scanners to maintain full traceability of product movements on and off site
- Preparing product for dispatch, including boxes, bags and bulk loads
- Managing pallet movements and empty crate outloading
- Operating additional machinery such as telehandlers, shunters, scissor lifts and compactors (training provided where required)
- Completing routine equipment checks and paperwork, reporting defects promptly
- Assisting with general site maintenance and supporting other departments when needed
Person specification:
- Valid Counterbalance (B1) 3.5t forklift licence
- 7-tonne forklift (B2) licence
- Telehandler licence beneficial
- Comfortable working with ramps, scissor lifts, shunters and Swift Lifts
- Strong awareness of health and safety in a yard setting
- Physically fit, with good mobility and the ability to judge weights, distances and heights
- Flexible approach and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Proven experience in a fast-paced yard or warehouse environment
