We are looking for a Production Technician Engineer to serve the packhouse and processing unit with graded product of the correct quality whilst running/maintaining the grading facility, staff and associated processes. This is a full time, permanent position working nights 17:00 - 05:30, 4 days on / 4 days off.

The position involves:

  • Assisting the Grader Operations Supervisor in achieving the best possible product quality post grading.
  • Supervising the team in actively monitoring the productivity on the grading line and ensuring the line is operating as efficiently as possible.
  • Recording all start up checks and changes to and from organic products, ensuring an adequate clean down process is undertaken before and after grading runs to avoid any possibility of cross contamination of products.
  • Ensuring grader beds and blades are cleaned when necessary and changed as required, with this to be recorded in the appropriate log.
  • Monitoring efficiencies of staff within your area and identifying further training as required.
  • Taking ownership and being accountable for product quality by actively undertaking quality control inspections and continually monitoring and reacting to product quality throughout the grading run.
  • Optimising conformance of graded product to the internal quality standards required by the business for supply into the packhouse or processing facility.
  • Clearly and concisely communicating quality issues with other internal departments and ensuring action is taken promptly to ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensuring the calibration of the NIR grader internal cameras, external cameras and weigh cells are regularly undertaken and maintained.
  • Arranging for broken metal screens to be repaired as soon as possible with a record of screens sent away for repair.
  • Performing regular planned preventative and reactive maintenance of the graders when required.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of the Linkfresh computer system are utilised correctly by all staff.
  • Assisting and ensuring that accurate information is provided to help complete grower outturns, labour costs and throughput analysis in a timely fashion.
  • Ensuring that the grading facilities cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained to a high level.
  • Performing duties to a high standard and ensuring that quality assurance and improvement processes are implemented successfully across the Company, particularly those relating to own role.
  • Organising foaming up & venting of the product post grading if required by liaising with the stock controller for location where the stock is to be placed.

  • Multiskilled engineering experience with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment of frequent change.
  • Previous experience of supervising a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload as the working situation develops.
  • A proactive approach to work to meet targets and ensure minimum downtime.
  • A keen eye for detail when conducting checks on machinery and processing paperwork.
  • An analytical mind and the ability to troubleshoot problems.
