A Production Technician Supervisor to serve the packhouse with graded product of the correct quality whilst running/maintaining the grading facility, staff, and associated processes. Ownership and accountability to ensure the graders are optimised and ran as efficiently as possible to meet the raw material quality standards of the business.
The position involves:
- Optimising conformance of graded product to the internal quality and customer standards for supply into the packhouse or processing facility.
- Overseeing the smooth running of the NIR Grader primarily, Grader 1 and Grader 2 if necessary.
- Conducting daily ZOHO checks, investigating and resolving incomplete actions.
- Ensuring all labelled stock has been placed in stores and foamed up if required.
- Reporting absence to the Grader Manager and ensuring all return-to-work forms are completed as required on the same day as the employees return date.
- Assisting the Grader Manager in achieving the best possible quality of the product coming off the grader.
- Monitoring the output against predicted grading plan and advising of under or over plan.
- Maintaining and updating ‘production record’ sheet and any other relevant paperwork.
- Conducting root cause analysis of all breakdowns with a plan of action.
- Identifying areas for improvement in the grading process.
- Working closely with other departments to address challenges and streamline processes.
- Monitoring efficiency of staff within your area and identifying any training requirements.
- Using all available information, i.e., line performance information, downtime information etc. to help motivate and improve the team performance.
- Ensuring all areas are clean and tidy at the end of production, and all products are correctly and clearly labelled, adhering to the ‘clean as you go’ policy.
- Ensuring staff are fully trained and that they work effectively, efficiently and follow all Health & Safety rules as set out by the company.
- Maintaining training records and carrying out competency assessments.
- Being the main point of contact for communication both verbally and in writing between the shifts, ensuring a full handover is provided.
- Actively monitoring productivity on the grading line and ensuring the line is operating as efficiently as possible, elevating to Grader Operations Supervisor if the grader target is not being met.
- Taking ownership and being accountable of the product quality by actively undertaking quality control inspections, continually monitoring and reacting to product quality throughout the grading.
- Clearly and concisely communicating quality issues with other internal departments and ensuring action is taken promptly to ensure timely resolution and aid the raw material escalation decision making process.
- Ensuring that all aspects of the Linkfresh computer system are used correctly by all relevant staff.
- Providing accurate information to the gatehouse on the day production is finished to ensure complete grower returns, labour costs and throughput analysis is correct.
- Attending stock meetings and being accountable for delivering on time and of the right quality.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as may be requested by your manager to ensure the overall smooth running of the business.
