We are looking for a motivated, dedicated, and willing Apprentice Engineer to join our busy engineering department. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be provided with mentorship and guidance alongside the apprenticeship programme. This is a great opportunity to work and learn.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with Engineers, Team Leaders, and Line Leaders to understand, investigate, and resolve running issues to ensure maximum efficiency from equipment.
- Follow a structured development plan, working across three departments with different types of machinery and engineering requirements.
- Assist in carrying out preventative maintenance to minimise downtime from breakdowns and maintenance.
Apprenticeship
- Commit to a 5 year Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship.
- 20% of your working time will be allocated to completing apprenticeship requirements, delivered weekly by an experienced tutor.
- Complete assigned tasks each week to demonstrate competence within the role.
- Work towards end point assessment requirements for the Engineering Fitter position.
- Receive support for both offsite and onsite training.
During the apprenticeship programme, alongside part-time college learning, you will gain hands‐on experience by assisting the Engineering Team in:
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance.
- Carrying out reactive repairs and improvements on equipment.
- Sourcing spare parts and service contracts.
- Identifying ways to improve asset performance.
- Maintaining comprehensive equipment records.
- Promoting and adhering to Health and Safety across the factory and site, ensuring machinery is safe to use.
- Performing duties to a high standard and supporting quality assurance and improvement processes.
- Ensuring all food legality, safety, quality, and authenticity procedures are followed.
- Complying with all company policies, procedures, ethical standards, and Health and Safety requirements.
Person Specification
- Maths and English GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in engineering and a desire to learn new skills and gain experience.
- Be committed to both the role and completing the apprenticeship programme.
- Have good teamwork skills.
- Be able to follow detailed procedures and instructions and work to deadlines with a methodical approach.
- Have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Be comfortable using machinery and computerised systems.
- Be able to carry out work requiring physical/manual dexterity and strength.
- Be motivated, driven, and enthusiastic, with the ability to maintain focus and concentration.
- Live within a commutable distance of Moulton, Spalding and be able to travel to and from work independently.
