Moughton Engineering are looking to recruit a CSWIP 3.2 Senior Weld Inspector. You will play a key role as part of the Quality Department in checking/monitoring in-house fabrications and sub-assemblies going through the manufacturing process against the relevant documented specification.
Responsibilities include:
- Inspecting both the work produced in primarily the fabrication shop and occasionally in other departments of the company.
- Evaluating and interpreting reports from various non-destructive testing methods.
- Maintaining product traceability and compliance to required standards.
- Producing inspection reports for products clearly highlighting any potential/actual non-conformances.
- Encouraging positive, open discussion on any deficiencies, safety and quality specifications, making recommendations to improve processes and methods where identified.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Advanced knowledge and experience of Fabrication/Welding (within Energy sector advantageous).
- Understanding of steel metallurgy.
- Ability to read and interpret technical fabrication drawings.
- Good IT skills (Excel, Word).
- Experience working in both manufacturing and off-site environments.
- Knowledge of ASME, BS Standards.
- Accuracy & Discretion.
- Teamwork & Motivation.
Daily functions include:
- Creating project documentation, welding, NDT documentation, data logging etc.
- Management of welding qualifications.
- Conducting internal audits of welders and procedures.
- Performing visual inspection on welded products and structures in progress and completed jobs.
- Ensuring welders adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Assisting with completion of technical specification packs.
- Responsible for final quality inspections and sign off approvals.
- Attending on-site installation projects to assist with inspection duties when required.
The above position offers a basic 38-hour week (early finish on a Friday), salary dependent on experience, 23 days annual holiday allowance, excluding Bank Holidays + birthday leave + wellbeing day + Christmas Eve, contributory pension scheme, life assurance and occupational health screening.
