Moughton Engineering are looking to recruit a CSWIP 3.1 Weld Inspector. You will play a key role as part of the Quality Department in checking and monitoring in-house fabrications and sub-assemblies going through the manufacturing process against the relevant documented specification.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting work produced primarily in the fabrication shop and occasionally in other departments of the company.
  • Setting quality/welding standards within the department and ensuring quality is maintained.
  • Raising NDT Reports.
  • Checking weld setups.
  • Performing dimensional checks, tack up, and final fabrications for release.
  • Achieving high efficiency (planned versus actual hours) for the department.
  • Ensuring welding procedures and training/testing of staff for required materials used is constantly reviewed and updated.
  • Completing documentation for all work carried out, including weld mapping, WPS creation, history sheets, consumable control, and all setting and weld data for traceability.
  • Ensuring job tasks are carried out safely using good working practices targeting zero lost time accidents.
  • Maintaining systems ready for audits.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience working in both manufacturing and off-site environments.
  • RWC (Responsible Weld Coordinator) would need or gain via TWI Interview.
  • CSWIP 3.1 Minimum.
  • Experience working within a lead/supervisory role.
  • Trained on all aspects of welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of ASME, BS Standards.
  • Accuracy & Discretion.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Teamwork & Motivation.
  • Computer skills (MS Software).

Daily Functions:

  • Creating project documentation, welding, NDT documentation, data logging, etc.
  • Management of welding qualifications.
  • Conducting internal audits of welders and procedures.
  • Performing visual inspection on welded products and structures in progress and completed jobs.
  • Performing dimensional checks and weld setups.
  • Ensuring welders adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring welders are working within the range of WPS.
  • Ensuring quality documents are recorded correctly and kept up to date.
  • Assisting with completion of technical specification packs.
  • Responsible for final quality inspections and sign-off approvals.
  • Attending on-site installation projects to assist with inspection duties when required.

The above position offers a basic 38-hour week (early finish on a Friday), salary dependent on experience, 23 days annual holiday allowance, excluding Bank Holidays, birthday leave, wellbeing day, Christmas Eve, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, and occupational health screening.
