About Motts Insurance

Established in 1966, Motts Insurance is one of Wales' leading independent commercial insurance brokers. Unlike many brokers, we are not tied to a single insurer. We work across the whole market, placing business with leading UK insurers, specialist MGA's, wholesale brokers, Lloyd's of London and other intermediaries to find the right solution for every client. Our clients range from property owners, landlords and care homes through to restaurants, manufacturers, professional firms, motor traders, hotels and many other commercial businesses across the UK. For almost 60 years we've built our reputation on honest advice, technical expertise and exceptional customer service. Many of our clients have been with us for decades, and the same is true of many of our team.

Why This Role Is Different

Although our office is based in South Wales, this is primarily a remote role because we want to recruit the very best commercial insurance professionals, wherever they live in the UK. We're not looking for someone to simply process renewals. We're looking for someone who wants to make a genuine contribution to our business. We welcome new ideas, encourage initiative and believe that the people dealing with clients every day are often the best placed to improve how we work. If you enjoy thinking differently, solving problems and taking ownership, you'll fit in well at Motts. As a small independent broker, teamwork is everything. We support one another, share knowledge and work together to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients.

The Role

You'll manage a portfolio of commercial clients, handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, quotations and day-to-day client servicing across a wide range of commercial risks. The role will also include handling inbound new business enquiries across a broad range of property insurance and e-trade products, providing quotations and converting enquiries into long-term clients. As your experience and confidence grow, you'll have the opportunity to work on more complex commercial risks, including Professional Indemnity, Contractors' All Risks, Motor Fleet, Commercial Combined and other specialist classes of business. Working with leading insurers, specialist MGA's, wholesale brokers and Lloyd's markets, you'll gain exposure to a diverse range of products and placement strategies, giving you far more variety than a traditional account handling role.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience using Acturis insurance software (essential)
  • Experience handling commercial insurance renewals
  • Confidence obtaining quotations through Acturis and the open market
  • Good knowledge of UK commercial insurers, MGA's and wholesale brokers
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Organised, self-motivated and able to work independently
  • A positive team player who enjoys supporting colleagues
  • Someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service

Developing Your Career

We want our people to succeed. Whether your ambition is to become an Account Executive, strengthen your technical knowledge, build relationships with insurers and underwriters, or develop your networking and business development skills, we'll support you every step of the way. We'll encourage your ideas, share our experience of winning and retaining commercial clients, and help you develop the confidence and skills to become the very best insurance professional you can be.

Why Join Motts?

We're proud to have a loyal, dedicated team, with many colleagues choosing to build long-term careers with us. We're a business that values hard work, trust and ambition. We believe in giving people responsibility, recognising their contribution and creating opportunities for them to grow. If you are looking for more than just another Account Handler role, if you want to work with interesting commercial risks, broaden your market knowledge and make a real difference to your clients then we would love to hear from you!
