Principal Project Manager in Sheffield

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Transport and Mobility Solutions (TMS) team supporting delivery of highway projects across the UK. The role focuses on technical quality, safety, risk, change control, programme, resource allocation and commercial performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design and build or contractor‑led highway projects from tendering to handover.
• Develop and deliver detailed design, construction site services and commissioning activities.
• Prepare reports, tender documents and monitor cost and schedule.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, sponsors and stakeholders.
• Ensure health and safety, quality assurance and compliance with design and construction legislation.

Candidate Specification

• Essential

• Significant experience managing highway design and build projects.
• Chartered engineer or chartered project manager.
• Experience establishing project team, delivering projects under NEC and other contract frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage tender budgets, monitor costs, resolve overruns and manage invoicing.
• Strong commercial and procurement communication with client design and engineering managers.
• Understanding of DESIGNERS obligations under CDM Regs.
• Flexible travel to client sites as required.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Project Management Qualification or progress towards one.
• Knowledge of risk management in project delivery.
• Experience managing projects through their full lifecycle.

Contract & Hours

Permanent, full‑time, hybrid working available.
