We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our successful Building Services team. The role provides the opportunity to work on an exciting range of projects in both private and public sector, including major framework & infrastructure developments in addition to one-off projects. The role will be challenging, varied and offer opportunities for skills development and career development.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, your role will include assessing and understanding project requirements, undertaking mechanical design across a number of disciplines and agreeing timescales and specifications with design teams, clients and managers. Leading and directing junior staff, you will be actively involved in the preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments as well as interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Managing the delivery of assigned the mechanical and building services elements of multi-disciplinary projects across a range of sectors including Built Environment; Healthcare, Education, Industrial, Energy, Water, Transportation and Advisory.
  • Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines as part of delivering projects.
  • Dealing with and management of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Carrying out design and calculation work using relevant industry software (IES, Revit etc).
  • Demonstrating technical expertise, providing in depth knowledge whilst proactively coaching and developing more junior team members.
  • Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects.
  • Maximising profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations.

A degree in building services engineering specialising in mechanical services. Chartered Engineer CEng (or in the process of attaining chartership). Have the ability to or experience of leading on Mechanical services and some multi-disciplinary projects. Be enthusiastic and ambitious. Possess excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentation. Can lead electrical elements of one large project or a portfolio of smaller projects. Have some experience of managing client relationships and expectations as there will be a requirement to attend Client Facing meetings via Team. Have experience of mentoring and leading graduate engineers.
