At Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) we are currently looking to add to our team through the appointment of a Senior Hydraulic Engineer. This is a chance to join a collaborative team within our United Utilties framework, supporting the delivery of a variety of projects as part of major capital investment programmes in and around the North West.
We have been named a partner on a new AMP8 framework with United Utilities, which will extend our relationship for at least the next five years. The partnership is set to be responsible for over £3bn of major infrastructure in the North West of England. Investment includes upgrades to wastewater treatment works and reducing storm overflows through the delivery of the largest spill reduction programme in the UK, protecting more than 500km of rivers and bathing waters.
As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, you will work closely with the engineering teams to deliver water, wastewater treatment and network projects, from feasibility through to detailed design stages. You will also provide hydraulic technical guidance and coordination to our design teams throughout the lifecycle of design, ensuring our hydraulic expertise is utilised and embedded into our designs.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Delivering Hydraulic Engineering on a range of projects from feasibility through outline and detailed design stages
- Producing and reviewing hydraulic calculations, HADES models, specifications, drawings and reports
- Engaging with the Client, managing relationships and adopting a One-Team approach to support them in achieving their aims
- Mentoring more junior colleagues. Providing technical guidance and advice on best practice in hydraulic design to others
- Working collaboratively across disciplines to ensure the efficient delivery of projects within the programme
- Providing quality assurance of others work by undertaking check/review functions.
- You will work closely and collaboratively with the construction team and supply chain to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout the design stages, into construction and post project review.
What you can offer:
- Qualified to degree level, and ideally Chartered, Incorporated, or working towards with a relevant professional institution (ICE, IMechE, CIWEM)
- Proven track-record in providing outline design, detailed design and construction support services relevant to the water/wastewater sector
- Wealth of technical experience of water and wastewater hydraulic calculations/modelling for infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure projects, preferably in a design-and-build environment
- Competent in using HADES modelling software and other relevant packages
- Able to explain hydraulic issues and techniques to non-hydraulic professionals
