About The Business Unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution. We provide integrated engineering and project management across the project lifecycle, supporting the energy transition globally.
Overview Of Role
We are recruiting a Senior C&I Engineer to join our Nuclear: Defence and Civil team. The role involves leading and managing the production of C&I designs in line with project requirements and liaising with other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute control and instrumentation work on projects in accordance with design instructions and procedures
- Adhere to safety and quality standards, man-hour plans, cost budgets, and project schedules
- Identify and plan the C&I scopes of work
- Provide input into project planning and execution
- Prepare budgets and manpower requirements
- Assign work and deliverables to the team with clear scope, quality, and schedule
- Review deliverables for required standard and quality
- Attend engineering meetings and liaise with other groups and clients as necessary
- Ensure solutions meet all discipline-related legal requirements including CDM, safety (including the EDSPS), environmental and site license conditions
- Ensure understanding and application of relevant legislation, client and project policies, procedures and design standards
Candidate Specification
- Degree qualified in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Chartered status and membership of a professional body or near chartership
- Technically adept in C&I including:
- Design basis to P&ID developments
- Systems architecture drawings
- Communication and cable selection, routing and cable management drawings
- Field instrumentation selection
- Control and safety systems including safety PLCs
- C&I cabinet design
- Instrumentation loop drawings and hook-up diagrams
- Instrument Data Sheets
- User Requirement Specifications
- C&I design reports and specifications
- Ability to review and check other engineers’ work
- Familiar with advances in C&I technology (fieldbus, wireless systems)
- Sound knowledge of relevant standards and CDM legislation
- Ability to deliver technically correct documentation to required standards and schedule
Note: Offers for this role are conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
Location and Work Arrangements
Locations include Altrincham, Bristol, Glasgow, Derby, and Reading, UK. Hybrid working policies apply to support flexibility and wellbeing.
