The Energy Transition team within our Energy unit is looking for Senior Civil & Structural (C&S) Engineers to strengthen the existing Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) team; providing advisory and design capabilities across a variety of power and energy projects types and technologies in a growing portfolio, supporting our clients in the UK and across Europe as part of the energy transition.
Working within the Civil & Structural team to develop cost‑effective, efficient and innovative Civil & Structural solutions to complex problems and then using engineering tools such as Revit, Tekla, Robot, AutoCAD and Civil 3D to create practical designs. Delivering projects in a variety of stages of maturity, including design review, feasibility studies, FEED studies and detailed design. There will be opportunities for site work during project development, construction and commissioning.
Preparation of deliverables such as structural 3D models, structure design reports, general arrangement drawings, pipe support design and drawings, foundation envelops and RC detailing. Supporting the development of plant layouts and plant 3D models. Working with the project team to develop cost‑effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs based on these solutions. Working with equipment vendors on developing designs of equipment packages and participating in technical evaluations of vendor designs. Support the developing proposals and bids for Civil & Structural projects and contributing to multi‑disciplinary proposals. Provide technical leadership and governance. A commitment to promoting health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace.
Candidate specification
- A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
- Chartered Engineer (or in the process of obtaining) and Member of relevant Engineering Institute.
- Significant post graduate experience in C&S technical delivery.
- The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of C&S deliverables.
- Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
- Experience of working with structural design software packages such as Robot Professional and STAAD Pro in addition to CAD software such as Advanced Steel, Revit and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of design and construction of power and energy projects.
- Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts as well as experienced in producing calculations.
- Detailed working knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the power and energy sector.
- Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution.
Preferred but not essential
- Experience within Owner's Engineer or technical advisory sector.
