We are looking for a senior professional specialising in fire safety engineering of high technical calibre who can work both independently and within a wider delivery team. The individual must have a good working knowledge of UK and international fire codes in addition to performance‑based design approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the development of fire safety strategies for all sectors of the built environment and road/rail infrastructure.
- Leading and overseeing review of designs against codes of practice, analysing and designing solutions to bespoke fire engineering problems.
- Working alongside internal/external technical stakeholders to provide advice best suited to the project and the client.
- Specifying and interpreting fire and smoke modelling studies (using tools including FDS and ANSYS CFD).
- Planning and supervising fire engineering design work from concept to detailed design stages, and through construction.
- Ensuring that work is delivered to programme and budget, maintaining high quality.
- Undertaking formal peer reviews of project work.
- Developing relationships with key clients and supporting business development to drive growth.
- Assisting with resource planning, staff training, mentoring, and support.
- Managing own projects via company finance when required.
Qualifications:
- Holding a degree in a relevant engineering or science subject.
- Being a Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
- Having extensive working knowledge of performance‑based fire engineering to national frameworks.
- Having experience with UK fire engineering codes of practice.
- Having working knowledge of international codes such as NFPA and IBC.
- Being familiar with fire/smoke modelling tools such as CFD, zone models, and evacuation models.
- Having excellent report writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Communicating effectively with clients, colleagues, and other project team members.
