We are seeking an experienced Principal Asset Management Advisor to support our clients in the water industry with economic regulation, investment planning, and asset management. The role involves assessing regulatory submissions, advising on policy areas, and helping water companies develop high‑quality investment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Support the regulator through the PR29 cycle to assess company submissions and provide technical expertise in policy areas such as investment proposal assessment, reconciliation of incentives and company performance delivery.
- Assist water company clients in improving their asset management and investment planning capabilities, particularly in preparing and reviewing high‑quality regulatory submissions.
- Act as a technical specialist for investment planning and asset management across the water sector.
- Mentor junior staff and share expertise with peers within the investment planning team and broader asset management practice.
- Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to ensure regulatory submissions meet statutory requirements and strategic objectives.
Essential Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of economic regulatory requirements in the England & Wales water sector.
- Strong understanding of Asset Management, ideally holding an Institute of Asset Management certificate or diploma.
- Deep knowledge of investment planning practices in the water sector.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present highly technical analysis to non‑technical audiences, and experience with report writing and presentations.
- Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to motivate others to deliver high standards.
- Experience with the regulatory planning cycle of business plans or business cases for companies or regulators.
- Experience in developing asset management strategic or tactical plans within an infrastructure‑owning organisation.
- Broad knowledge of technical disciplines: water resource management, drainage, wastewater management, cost‑benefit analysis, value frameworks, data management and visualisation.
Desirable Qualifications
- Engineering or other technical background and qualifications.
- Certificate or Diploma in Asset Management from the Institute of Asset Management.
- Chartership with a relevant environmental or asset management professional institution.
- Project management, client liaison and consulting experience.
- Auditing and assurance background.
- Commercial awareness and experience with project proposal preparation.
Offers for this role are conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
