We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues, such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation, to delivering and maintaining infrastructure. Our planning, engineering, environmental, and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

We are looking to expand our transport planning team in the North West and North East of the UK, and will provide high quality, cost effective, and tailored solutions to our public and private sector clients. You will be involved in high‑profile projects such as National Grid, Royal Mail, Anglian Water, Manchester Airports Group, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Local Authorities and NHS Trusts, becoming an integral member of the team, providing technical inputs and support to internal project managers and external client customers. The role offers great opportunities for technical and personal skill development and career progression through training support toward professional qualification.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

  • Assessing the impacts of developments
  • Developing and commissioning transport surveys
  • Analyzing transport data, and presenting the findings
  • Scoping and producing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Construction Traffic Management Plans, Servicing and Delivery Plans and other similar documentation
  • Assisting the provision of technical advice in relation to feasibility proposals for developments
  • Transport modelling and appraisal
  • Discrete junction modelling
  • Supporting the preparation of tender submissions and proposals
  • Evaluating the outcomes of projects

Candidate specification

Essential

  • A Degree in a Transport Planning related subject (e.g., Transport Planning, Engineering, Geography, Mathematics, Town Planning, Science) or an equivalent and relevant qualification
  • A genuine interest in Transport Planning and relevant post‑graduate experience of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and other similar documentation
  • Experience of commissioning or supporting appropriate data gathering exercises
  • Experience of some industry standard junction assessment or transport modelling software packages
  • High levels of numeracy and the ability to produce clear, concise and logical written and verbal communication
  • A practical approach to problem solving and the ability to adapt and work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Private Sector background but have experience of supporting projects that dealt with Local Authority and Public Sector clients
  • Experience of managing elements of projects, potentially including the delivery of internal projects for their employer
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff up to a Senior level
