We have been named a partner on a new AMP8 framework with United Utilities, which will extend our relationship for at least the next five years. The partnership is set to be responsible for over £3bn of major infrastructure in the North West of England. Investment includes upgrades to wastewater treatment works and reducing storm overflows through the delivery of the largest spill reduction programme in the UK, protecting more than 500km of rivers and bathing waters.

We are seeking an experienced Social Value Lead within Mott MacDonald Bentley to embed strategies, deliver, and evidence social value across the United Utilities Northwest Wastewater Framework. This role will also support the framework’s Enterprise partners, ensuring that infrastructure delivery creates tangible, measurable benefits for the communities in which we operate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and support development of the Enterprise social value strategy.
  • Identify project and framework social value commitments and KPI’s.
  • Identify local needs and plan and deliver project-specific plans.
  • Build and manage relationships with Enterprise partners, and work closely with the Lead Liaison officer to manage relationships with communities and stakeholders.
  • Lead in the coordination and delivery of social value initiatives relating to employment, educational outreach, volunteering, and supply chain support.
  • Monitor, measure and report on social value outcomes including those relating to employment, supply chain spend, volunteering, early careers.
  • Ensure delivery in line with client requirements, standards and the Mott MacDonald Bentley approach.
  • Collaborate across teams including HR, sustainability, procurement, projects and communications.
  • Promote social value internally through training and communications.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and delivery against commitments.
  • Be part of our wider network of practitioners.
What you’ll need:
  • Proven experience delivering social value in construction or infrastructure.
  • Detailed understanding of social value frameworks and platforms, particularly the TOMs System and the Social Value Portal.
  • Strong understanding of outcomes‑based delivery.
  • Experience contributing to large‑scale programmes or frameworks.
  • Ability to collate and analyse data and evidence impact through reporting.
  • Skilled at communicating confidently, with strong interpersonal abilities, and able to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and able to work on your own initiative, you will be able to manage your work priorities across multiple projects and manage your time effectively.
  • Experience in the UK water or utilities sector.
  • Experience working in Alliance/Enterprise programme delivery models.
