Business Unit: Mott MacDonald's Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme and commercial management services across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.
Role Overview: As a Consultant, you will deliver measurable value for our clients, primarily in client‐facing roles, with support assignments as required. Your work will help clients navigate complex challenges, unlock opportunities and deliver lasting value beyond capital project delivery. The role is largely based in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Leeds and Manchester, with travel expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver multiple medium‐complexity Change and Transformation assignments independently.
- Lead management and delivery of low‐to-medium‐complexity assignments without supervision.
- Author and quality‐assure key client documentation such as proposals, scoping, planning and resourcing, progress and outcome reports.
- Conduct analysis to evidence gaps against best practice and provide advice to clients.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness through involvement in project commercial management and business development.
- Engage in the design, development and adoption of digital tools and techniques.
- Demonstrate emotional and cultural intelligence and adapt communication styles.
- Apply appropriate process techniques, tools, methodologies and frameworks.
- Participate in practice development through coaching and training.
- Guide and support colleagues, contributing to a team environment.
- Work towards intermediate accredited status (e.g., Chartered Management Consultant).
- Travel to client sites and potentially spend extended periods away from home.
Essential Qualifications:
- Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working within APD service lines: business case, innovation management, business change and transformation, organisational design, digital transformation and business improvement.
- Ability to work in teams and with a wide range of individuals; strong numerical skills and commercial awareness.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Associate or Chartered Management Consultant (AChMC/ChMC).
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in project management, programme management, innovation, lean, change management and business cases.
- Knowledge of the UK's major infrastructure investment plans.
