Location/s: London, Glasgow or Birmingham; can be based anywhere in the UK with UK wide travel.

About The Business Unit: The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald’s regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross‐sector skills across five key sectors: Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

Overview Of The Role: Buildings (Defence) is looking for a Project Manager to take an active lead within a growing portfolio, supporting our clients in the UK, within the Defence and Security sector. As well as contributing to the new and existing projects, this position will play an active role in improving our project management processes and approach, driving both delivery excellence and efficiency in our business. We are specifically looking for individuals with a strong military background, who have an established defence network, and who wish to be involved in challenging, exciting and rewarding infrastructure projects. This role will involve project coverage across the UK so regular travel to sites will be a requirement.

Candidate specification:

  • Essential:
  • Proven experience in the Defence Sector in a project management capacity
  • Degree in relevant technical discipline (engineering, science or project management)
  • Knowledge of MOD policy, processes and procedures
  • Recent, relevant knowledge of the servicing, inspection and maintenance of military vehicles
  • Must be eligible to achieve security clearance
  • Desirable:
    • Recognised project or programme management qualification from one of the following: PMI, APM, CMI, RICS, CIOB
    • Requirements writing, specifically related to infrastructure projects
