What will you be doing as our new Lead Geotechnical Engineer – Ground Investigation Supervisor?
You will be given support and guidance from the Ground Investigation Coordinator and Geotechnics Discipline Lead in delivery, and work in collaboration with Geotechnical Engineers, Geophysicists and other disciplines to develop and detail appropriate solutions adopting the principles of excellence in design. Your primary contribution will be to lead site supervision, laboratory scheduling and interpretation of ground investigations.
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake desk studies, ground investigations and GI site supervision
- Lead junior staff in producing RAMS and undertaking GI site supervision
- Lead junior engineers in checking the contractors Factual Reports and producing the Interpretative Reports
- Work with the relevant lead team members to ensure that all technical deliverables are properly checked and approved
- A willingness to travel and undertake field-based assignments including supervising GI contractors to ensure technical quality
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours:
This job might be for you if you are:
- Engineering experience supervising and managing medium/large Ground Investigations utilising machine excavated trial pits, dynamic sampling (including windowless sampling), cable percussion boring and rotary coring
- Experienced in the production of full, detailed technical records of ongoing works, identification of technical issues and ability to communicate with the Investigation Supervisor
- Able to work within a team and provide direction and assistance to the Junior Site Supervisor
- Full and in-depth understanding of BS5930 including in-situ testing (SPT, borehole permeability testing and pressuremeter testing)
- Fully experienced in logging to BS5930 and CIRIA C574
- Experienced in supervising the taking and preserving of specialist samples (geo-environmental, UT100 and Class 1 core sub-samples)
- Experienced in the scheduling and checking of geotechnical laboratory testing, including provision of lab schedules
- Proactive and with a practical nature
