This is a Mott MacDonald Bentley role, employed by Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald. This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.

Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a BIM Engineer to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a BIM Engineer (Infra) to support and enhance our project delivery team.
What will you be doing as our new BIM Engineer (Infra)? You will be responsible for developing intelligent 3D models to industry standards and for construction, using BIM applications Civil3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Recap. Work within the Programme Common Data Environments (CDE) consisting of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), SharePoint and the SPA GIS platform. You will be expected to carry out the development of drawings and models aligned to the design specification requirements and to integrate health, safety, quality, environmental and performance standards along with ensuring all work meets required water industry regulations and AW approved standards.
You will need to ensure all CAD tasks allocated are in line with the design specification requirements along with ensuring design clashes, drawing and model progress issues are highlighted & reported in a timely manner via proactive and innovative situation solving skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Understand and use specifications, installation details, supplier details, and datasheets for various pipe types and applications.
- Verify that connection details comply with industry standards and WIMES.
- Model pipe and duct routes, as directed by the design engineer.
- Integrate health and safety considerations into all design processes, ensuring safe and maintainable systems.
- Ensure your work is carried out in accordance with the agreed timescales and effort and advise the Design Lead of any deviation as soon as it occurs.
- Ensure your work has alignment with Alliance data management and BIM procedures, meeting the required data and model maturity levels.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating feedback and industry best practices into the BIM model.
- Work closely with other SPA disciplines to ensure the project objectives are met.
- Participate in regular project and discipline team meetings.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: This job might be for you if you have:
- Proven proficiency in either, or a combination of: Civil3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Recap software; preferably with experience in both mechanical and civil disciplines.
- An engineering diploma, degree, or equivalent (preferable) and are working towards professional status with a relevant institution.
- The ability to generate and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Awareness of the latest relevant standards affecting engineering delivers e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 19650, PAS 1192, etc.
