The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks.

Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension.

  • Head of Process Engineering to join our

Nuclear, Defence and Civil team, working across a diverse portfolio of projects that includes nuclear decommissioning, defence, and major energy and infrastructure programmes.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering technically challenging projects while helping to grow our capability and strengthen client relationships.

As a senior leader within the business, you'll combine technical excellence with people and client leadership.

You'll lead and develop a team of engineers, support business growth through client engagement and opportunity development, and provide expert guidance across a range of multidisciplinary projects.

The role covers all stages of engineering delivery, from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design.

Working closely with clients and project teams, you'll help develop practical, innovative solutions to complex challenges, prepare and review technical documentation, and represent the business at client meetings and site visits.

Along the way, you'll mentor and support engineers at all levels, helping to build a strong and collaborative engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing technical leadership, client engagement, and team development while contributing to some of the UK's most important and exciting projects.

Candidate specification

Essential

  • You’ll be responsible for providing quality assurance of others work by surveillance and checking
  • Line management responsibilities for the nuclear process team
  • Chartered status with the IChem E or other relevant professional body
  • Lead process engineering aspects of multi-discipline design projects
  • Possess a broad knowledge of industry standards and legislation
  • Be able to present and defend solutions to complex problems to clients
  • Ensures safety is an integral part of process engineering design
  • Technical chemical/process engineering experience
  • Demonstrable experience in process engineering design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects
  • Client-facing experience as well as a commercial awareness of FEED projects
  • Experience of supporting or mentoring more junior engineers
  • Able to actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, facility and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit for purpose solutions
