The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Overview of the role

Do you want a client‑facing role where you’ll be given the support and autonomy to use your full skill set to solve complex problems? Are you looking for a genuine opportunity for progression based on your ability and contribution? Our Nuclear, Defence and Civil division are recruiting a Process Engineering Lead to join our fast‑growing team. The role will include line management, client engagement to develop opportunities and supporting the development of engineers within the team. It is a client‑facing position at Process Lead level and is technically focused, covering all stages of front‑end engineering from feasibility to detailed design. You will be involved in multi‑discipline projects, liaise with clients to develop solutions, produce design and technical documentation, visit client sites where necessary, pursue and promote further opportunities, and guide junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Line management of the nuclear process team.
  • Lead process engineering aspects of multi‑discipline design projects.
  • Provide quality assurance of others’ work through surveillance and checking.
  • Liaise with clients to develop solutions aligned with their needs.
  • Produce design and technical documentation and visit client sites as necessary.
  • Promote further opportunities with clients and support the team’s commercial awareness.
  • Support and guide junior members of the team and mentor more junior engineers.

Candidate Specification

Essential:

  • Responsible for providing quality assurance of others' work by surveillance and checking.
  • Line management responsibilities for the nuclear process team.
  • Chartered status with the IChemE or other relevant professional body.
  • Lead process engineering aspects of multi‑discipline design projects.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of industry standards and legislation.
  • Be able to present and defend solutions to complex problems to clients.
  • Ensure safety is an integral part of process engineering design.
  • Technical chemical/process engineering experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in process engineering design.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects.
  • Client‑facing experience as well as a commercial awareness of FEED projects.
  • Experience of supporting or mentoring more junior engineers.
  • Able to actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, facility and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
