Due to our continuous growth, we are looking for Principal Piping Engineers to join our Nuclear, Defence and Civil division. Our team delivers projects to a wide range of clients across the defence and nuclear new-build industry and offers the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting projects in the industry.
This role combines technical leadership with strategic project responsibilities, providing an excellent opportunity for career growth. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to influence major projects while mentoring and inspiring the next generation of engineers.
Key Responsibilities And Duties Include:
- Operate as a senior design co-ordinator, leading and managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
- Take responsibility for delivering detailed design reports, specifications, and component datasheets to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee engineering calculations, ensuring the accuracy and approval of engineering reports, calculations, and drawings.
- Guide mechanical designers on plant layout and component specifications, ensuring design integrity and compliance.
- Act as the primary liaison between engineering disciplines, clients, and contractors, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Lead and chair internal and external design co-ordination meetings.
- Provide strategic procurement and construction support, ensuring smooth project delivery.
- Manage project documentation, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and best practices.
- Offer expert advice on mechanical engineering matters to internal teams and external clients.
- Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level engineers to build team capability.
- Ensure alignment with corporate health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Travel within the UK or abroad may be required to support projects and client needs.
Candidate Specification:
Essential:
- Chartered status with the IMechE or other relevant professional body (or equivalent experience with progress toward chartered status).
- Proven leadership experience in delivering engineering design and consultancy services.
- Significant expertise in highly regulated industries (nuclear preferred, but Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, or Rail experience will be considered).
- In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislation, with a strong track record of delivering work packages to clients.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and other relevant software tools.
- Experience of leading, managing and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Self-driven and capable of managing technical and business matters independently.
