Key responsibilities and duties include
- Drafting and Design
- Prepare electrical drawings for substation secondary systems, including protection, control, and communication systems
- Produce wiring diagrams, cable schedules, block diagrams, and equipment layouts
- Assist with cable routing, trench layouts, and equipment arrangement drawings
- Update and revise drawings in accordance with project requirements and engineering comments
- Technical Support
- Support the preparation of technical documentation for secondary systems
- Assist in ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, client requirements, and company procedures
- Contribute to design coordination activities with multidisciplinary teams
- Project Delivery
- Maintain drawing registers and revision records
- Support project teams in meeting programme and quality requirements
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into design deliverables
- Quality
- Follow established drafting and quality control procedures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the design team
- Candidate specification
Essential
- HNC/HND, Diploma, Associate Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Design, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in Auto CAD and/or other relevant design software
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and substation secondary systems
- Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under supervision whilst managing assigned tasks effectively
Desirable
- Experience producing electrical design drawings for utility, industrial, or infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with protection and control systems
- Some experience using Navisworks, Revit, Micro Station, or similar design tools
- Some experience on UK transmission or distribution projects
- Awareness of National Grid, SSE, SPEN, or DNO standards
