As an Electrical Building Services Engineer in Mott MacDonald, you will work in world class teams to design and deliver cost effective, innovative and sustainable solutions on local and international projects in the following sectors:

  • Energy

You will be responsible for delivering functional design solutions on projects across our built environment sector, ensuring that we create a visually appealing and comfortable environment, using our ingenuity, in both our own disciplines and in integrated thinking. You will deliver solutions that address the challenge of ever-increasing social need at a time of decreasing resources as well as the essential need to reduce carbon emissions, and as the digital revolution is applied to the provision of essential services, mechanical, electrical and building services engineering will play a central role in creating the smart infrastructure for our sustainable future.

To deliver on this, you will need to show knowledge in technology, in both design and construction processes, working collaboratively across the Group and with our project partners. The Mott MacDonald community is at the heart of this endeavour, join in and make a difference.

Key responsibilities and qualifications

  • Have responsibility for all aspects of assigned project work
  • Be competent in cable, lighting and other calculation software required to design electrical services such as Trimble Pro Design, Relux and or Dialux as a minimum
  • Be competent in AutoCad and Revit both 2D and 3D
  • Support and mentor junior members of the team
  • Work and liaise with associated engineering disciplines as part of delivering projects
  • Offer consultative service to clients and delivering first class service
  • Able to attend the office a minimum of two days per week, with the MEP team and able to attend additional ad-hoc days to suit project support and delivery
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing
  • Minimum three years post graduate (or equivalent) experience in building services engineering
  • Degree qualified or similar apprentice route with relevant experience and working towards chartership
  • Experience of working on building services and multi-disciplinary projects
  • Enthusiastic and ambitious with a strong teamwork ethic
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
  • Ability to lead electrical elements of a large project or smaller project
