Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) are recruiting for their successful ‘DfMA and standardisation’ team to develop Standard Products and accelerate their integration into our framework design teams. We are looking for technically strong Mechanical Engineers to join the team and lead the design of a wide range of standardised water and wastewater assets.
The role of a Mechanical Engineer includes:
- Be part of a unique team establishing best practice across multiple frameworks.
- Help shape the technical quality and delivery of MMB’s design outputs.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality standard products - encompassing 3D models, standard 2D designs and key documents & deliverables.
- Determine optimum standard products for cost, time, quality, safety, carbon and buildability.
- Collaborate with colleagues from across our business (site operations, procurement, commercial) and our supply chain.
What you’ll need:
- Strong technical background - water & wastewater treatment processes & assets, pumping, screening, valving.
- Experience producing standard deliverables - P&IDs, mechanical GAs, calculations, control philosophy, HAZOPs, schedules and specifications.
- Appreciation and knowledge of related disciplines - electrical and ICA, process.
- Knowledge of industry and client specifications.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or directly related subject).
- Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualification with IMechE or relevant Institution.
- UK water and/or wastewater experience.

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald. This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
