Overview
Our office‑based department provides Civil and Structural expertise across Substation, HVDC Converter Station, Overhead Line, and Cable projects.
We are looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer with five to eight years of experience to join our Digital Award winning High Voltage (HV) Civil and Structural Team based in Genova, Italy, Madrid, Spain or Belgrade, Serbia.
The role spans a diverse portfolio of work and offers opportunities for advancement within the team.
Responsibilities
- Design and Development Functions
- Project Management
- Proposal Writing
- Scheme Costing
- Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
- Preparation of drawings for planning applications and tender packages
- Detailed Civil/Structural Design
- Cable Routing Design
- Design Coordination across multidisciplinary teams
- Preparation of Specifications
- Condition and Structural Assessment of existing structures to determine suitability for reuse
- Design Assurance Functions
- Civil and structural review of designs
- Provide technical support to clients on project issues
- Attend design and interface meetings with clients and stakeholders
- Provide authorization for commissioning settings and design assurance for Electricity Transmission Assets if authorised
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum five to eight years of experience in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer or candidate applying for chartership
- Previous experience with Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Networks in high voltage substations and cable routing projects
- Knowledge of construction health and safety regulations; knowledge of transmission network operator’s construction practices is an advantage
- Experience in Civil/Structural engineering applied to converter stations is an advantage, including awareness of process, equipment layout and considerations such as RFI and fire protection
- Willingness to engage with new challenges and work confidently on tasks beyond prior experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and client‑facing interactions
- Prepared to undertake a leadership role and assist in team development
