Overview of the Role

As a Consultant in our strategic advisory business, you will assist clients in navigating complex challenges, unlocking opportunities, and delivering measurable value. Your work will be predominantly client‑facing with support roles for internal assignments. You will help deliver transformation and business change services by applying expertise in business case development, innovation management, organisational design, digital, and operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads and delivers multiple, medium complexity Change and Transformation assignments without supervision and fully contributes technically and functionally, individually and in teams.
  • Leads management and delivery of low to medium complexity assignments without supervision or work packages of more complex projects.
  • Authors and starts to quality‑assure key client documentation such as proposals; initiative scoping, planning and resourcing; progress reports; outcome reports etc.
  • Conducts analysis to evidence gaps identified against good practice and starts to provide related advice directly to clients e.g., recommendations for next steps, what the future could / should look like.
  • Demonstrates commercial awareness ranging from involvement in commercial management of projects (resourcing, fees, invoicing etc) and business development (opportunity identification, proposal creation, approach design).
  • Growing demonstration of Management consultancy Foundational Values in practice: Eminence, Growth mindset, Integrity and trust, Inclusivity, Courage of convictions, Determination, Innovation and creativity, Agility, Honesty and transparency, Ethics.
  • Engages in the design, development and adoption of digital tools and techniques to evolve how consultancy services are delivered.
  • Demonstrates emotional and cultural intelligence skills, understands own emotions and those of others.
  • Aware of styles and methods of communication and matching these to the requirements of different audiences.
  • Understanding and application of appropriate process techniques, tools, methodologies and frameworks.
  • Participates in Practice (technical capability) development through 1:1 and/or group coaching/training.
  • Guides and supports colleagues, contributing to a team environment.
  • Works towards intermediate accredited status (with Chartered Management Consultant or equivalent).

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Other degree qualifications will be considered if experience is aligned with our services.
  • Significant experience working within one or more of our teams’ service lines: business case, innovation management, business change and transformation, organisational design, digital transformation and business improvement.
  • Ability to work in teams and with a wide range of individuals, awareness of P3M, strong numerical skills and commercial awareness.

Desirable Requirements

  • Associate or Chartered Management Consultant (AChMC/ChMC).
  • Any of the following qualifications or certifications: project management, programme management, innovation, lean, change management and business cases.
  • Knowledge of the UK’s major infrastructure investment plans.
  • Security clearance is desirable but not essential.
