The Water Utilities Division is the centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. The role is based in the Cambridge, Brighton, London, or Reading area as part of the Thames Water Consultancy Framework. We are seeking an Engineer Manager to lead the delivery of our non-infra programme of works, build on the established framework, and work with technical discipline leads to ensure delivery performance meets client expectations and our standards of technical excellence.
The role will work with framework leadership and delivery teams to ensure the right structure, people, systems, and processes are in place to meet technical demands and deliver project outcomes in line with client and framework requirements, internal business management systems, and governance processes. The position offers opportunities to innovate, mentor the next generation, and develop future-proofed services using latest digital technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of our non-infra programme of works within the Thames Water Consultancy Framework.
- Collaborate with technical discipline leads to ensure technical delivery aligns with client and framework expectations.
- Establish and maintain the right structure, people, systems, and processes to meet technical demands and deliver outcomes in line with governance and client processes.
- Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in delivery of client solutions.
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the clientβs business plan objectives and technical challenges, and engage with the client to maintain this understanding.

We are seeking a driven individual with a passion for finding solutions that meet environmental and cost drivers whilst delivering excellent customer outputs.
Essential
- Chartered engineer with relevant technical degree
- Track record of engineering technical leadership
- Significant experience in development and delivery of feasibility and outline design treatment solutions within the UK water sector
- Aptitude for innovation and driving efficiency
- Experience in mentoring people and teams
- Ability to support bids, fee proposals or offers of service
- Strong communication skills with experience in effective collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams as well as Client teams
- The ability to travel on a regular basis to Thames Water offices
Desirable
- Strong commercial awareness, delivering cost effective solutions within time and cost constraints
- Understanding of key water sector treatment and sustainability needs
- Understanding of drivers for water and wastewater treatment investment in England and Wales
- Excellent technical report writing skills using concise English
