About The Business Unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview Of The Role
Our division in Energy Networks provides expertise across power generation and HV transmission including power plants, HV substation / HVDC Interconnector converter station, and HV cable projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Principal CAD technician to lead a small team of Electrical technicians who would play a key role within the Transmission & Distribution team, working on major projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities And Duties Include:
- Line management and technical supervision for a team comprising of three senior technicians and one technician
- Assist in the delivery of projects ranging from planning to construction stage
- Modelling HV plant and associated schedules
- Modelling HV cable systems and interface connections
- Preparation of Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and Key Line Diagrams (KLD)
- Support development of HV Substation divisional standard, methods and procedures guidance
- Support development of HV Substation template improvements
Candidate Specification
Essential:
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
- Strong interest in 3D design, modelling and creating immersive models
- Enthusiasm to learn new skills and embrace new technologies and software
- Able to effectively manage workload in a busy and dynamic environment
- Willing to take ownership of issues and work autonomously to find solutions
- Mentor and develop junior staff
- Prior experience with the following Revit features: Family creation, conduit and duct routing schedules, material quantity take-offs
Desirable:
- Supplementary experience in Autodesk toolsets and systems
- Autodesk Navisworks Manage
- Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Experience of working to UK sector standards and processes
- Familiarity with working to industry modelling standards
- EngTech TMICE or similar
