Overview of role

The Energy Unit, Transmission & Distribution division is recruiting Electrical Engineers at Senior/Principal level to support client projects from inception to final completion. The role involves technical design, project leadership, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams in renewable power, grid connections and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide technical solutions and project leadership in electrical design for major infrastructure works.
  • Participate in bids, proposals and project planning to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Manage engineering projects, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations, statutory and regulatory specifications.
  • Support and develop junior staff and graduates.

Typical activities include:

  • Leading site surveys
  • Ensuring project deliverables and scope are clear
  • Understanding procurement and contract awards such as NEC PSC
  • LV and MV network configuration and resilience advice
  • Input into network configuration and operational scenarios
  • LV and MV (up to 33kV) network design
  • LV and MV cable sizing, routing and termination
  • Substation design layouts and main equipment specifications
  • Interpreting client standards, DNO regulations and standards
  • Earthing designs modelling and calculations
  • Protection and arc‑flash requirements
  • Review design submissions against client scope

Candidate specification

Reporting to the Project Principal or Principal Engineer, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be Chartered and professionally qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Have proven skills and experience in the energy and renewable sectors mentioned.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Coordinate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in electrical project engineering with focus from LV to 33kV.
  • Be competent in MS Office suite.
  • Understand bid procedures and internal governance.
  • Be aware of procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Will travel in the UK and overseas if required.
  • Have initiative, self‑motivation and decision‑making confidence.
