These opportunities are for those who have A-levels or equivalent and are looking to undertake a Degree Apprenticeship (level 6). We will close for applications on Monday 9th March 2026; however, if this opportunity becomes over-subscribed, we will close early, so we recommend that you apply as soon as possible. This opportunity is for our Birmingham office.

The successful candidate will be enrolled onto the BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering course with either Coventry or Warwick University. Candidates should live a commutable distance from our Birmingham office and one of the university campuses.

Eligibility

  • Coventry University BEng/BSc Civil Engineering
    • GCSE Maths - Grade 5 or equivalent
    • GCSE Science - Grade 4 or equivalent
    • A-level Maths - Grade C or equivalent
  • Warwick University BEng Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Degree Apprenticeship
    • BTEC Diploma grade D*D*, with an A grade A level Mathematics or subject to passing appropriate assessment in mathematics.
    • BTEC Extended Diploma grade DDD including the two Mathematics units, 'Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems' and 'Further Engineering Mathematics'.
    • AAA grades at A level, to include Mathematics and a Physical Science. Applicants with a strong profile but without A level Mathematics will be subject to passing appropriate assessment.

Job Description

As a paid apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects that make a difference. Alongside your role, you’ll complete classroom-based learning - either in person or virtually. Upon completion, you’ll earn a nationally recognised qualification that leads to exciting career opportunities. Our Degree Apprenticeships typically last around five years, depending on the course, and are designed to help you grow both professionally and personally.

You’ll be part of a team that’s shaping tomorrow’s world - whether that’s through innovation, sustainability, or community impact. This opportunity is for our Urban Transit and Mobility team, based in our Transportation business unit. Within Urban Transit and Mobility, you’ll gain a wide variety of Civil Engineering experience in all stages of the project lifecycle from business case and feasibility studies, looking at high-level route alignments, through to detailed design, as well as Design and Build with contractors, construction phase support, network operations and maintenance, and finally renewal work for older schemes. Many projects are complex multidisciplinary involving work with many other teams such as bridges, structures, traction power, geotech, operations and environment.
