About the Energy unit: The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we're helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview of the role: Our Energy Networks team within our Energy unit is looking for an Assistant Project Manager.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Assist in establishing and delivering project specific objectives
  • Provide key support to the senior leaders in the delivery of commission obligations and internal project performance
  • Contribute to open communications across the project delivery and client teams
  • Establish effective communications across the project delivery, client and stakeholder teams
  • Implement problem solving and decision making
  • Adopt programme and business management systems across project teams
  • Control the internal and external commercial aspects of project across a range of contractual arrangements
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues in the skills of project management
  • Contribute to securing opportunities and repeat business through the high quality of service delivery

Candidate specification:

Essential:

  • A degree in a construction, engineering or project management subject
  • Working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g., APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP)
  • Appreciation of commercial sphere of project work
  • Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Collaborative skills: the job of APM requires work with cross-functional teams, so it is vital that they can work with people from various backgrounds

Desirable:

  • Good client and stakeholder relationship building skills
  • Effective communication with client's project team and business manager
  • Experience in the Energy sector in particular Transmission and Distribution
