We are recruiting for the Asset Management And Infrastructure Planning Team within our Water Consultancy Division, which employs around 600 people in the UK. Our work covers the water sector and other infrastructure providers, in the UK and internationally.
Role overview
We are looking for motivated professionals with at least 5 years of asset management experience, ideally in the water sector, who want a long-term career in asset management, aiming to become a member of the Institute of Asset Management and manage their own projects.
Responsibilities and duties
- Assist the technical delivery of asset management advisory projects, including frequent interaction with clients and working from within client environments
- Contribute to the development of project outputs, including investment business cases and reports
- Support business development activities, including client engagement, preparing and managing project proposals
- Facilitate asset management capability assessments and identify areas for improvement
- Support project and budget management, including team coordination and ensuring compliance with PM procedures
- Undertake identified training to support technical excellence
- Perform data analysis to support project delivery
Candidate specification
You will have experience in the following
- Asset planning or asset strategy
- Risk assessment and management
- Investment appraisal or cost benefit analysis
- Investment planning or investment programme optimisation
- Resilience assessment and planning
- Developing decision support tools
- Performance monitoring/reporting
- Some experience/knowledge of ISO 55000 or another ISO standard
- Essential
- Degree qualified in an environmental or other relevant subject
- Chartership recently achieved through a relevant organisation (ICE, CIWEM or similar), or working at an equivalent level with demonstrable progress towards Chartership
- Industry experience in asset management, ideally in a water company or consultancy
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills, including the ability to review complex documents and present key issues clearly
- Project management, client liaison and consulting skills
- Willingness to undertake assignments throughout the UK, with short international visits
- Desirable
- Certificate or Diploma in Asset Management from the Institute of Asset Management
- Assurance/audit experience including ISO auditing
- Commercial awareness and project proposal preparation
- Organisational change management
- Chartership with a relevant environmental or asset management professional institution
- Industry experience and/or willingness to embrace on- and off-the-job training in areas like decarbonisation, climate resilience, systems thinking, nature-based solutions and circular economy
- Broader awareness of other environmental and social disciplines
