We are growing our geotechnical team within the Energy Unit to support the energy transition and growth of the company in major markets. We focus on developing careers with defined technical pathways and mentoring.
Role
Senior Geotechnical Engineer in the Energy Unit geotechnical team. You will work with public and private sector clients on key projects across a varied energy market. You will carry out work on energy projects, fulfilling tasks including the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Ground investigation contract administration and preparation of scope, specifications, interpretation and verification of ground investigation data and parameters for a ground model to inform design
- Geotechnical desk studies, preliminary assessments and reviews of existing geotechnical reporting
- Investigation contractor management on site and in the office, including reviewing RAMS and monitoring health and safety compliance
- Prepare geotechnical interpretative reports
- Geotechnical analysis, including ground modelling and analysis software
- Collaborate with engineers of other disciplines to produce integrated geotechnical assessments for overall project delivery
- Assess geotechnical hazards and risks to projects and communicate appropriate solutions
- Answer technical queries and requests for information and forward to relevant designers
- Support to proposals and production of client tender packages
Candidate specification
- Essential Degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (or similar)
- Experience in energy developments with exposure to one or more sectors: Transmission and Distribution networks; Energy Generation (Renewables, Hydro and Thermal); Nuclear
- Working towards or having recently achieved chartered status
- Demonstrable experience in ground investigation site works and managing geotechnical investigation contractors on site
- Experience of CDM roles, notably Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duties
- Demonstrable experience in foundation geotechnical design
At the outset we would expect some experience in all named areas. If successful, you will have the opportunity to learn from other team members and further develop your skills. You should be willing to engage with new challenges and work confidently on tasks you have prior experience in.
Candidates should demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, including report writing. The role may involve client-facing activities and liaison with clients and contractors on site and by phone.
