The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Overview of the role

Process Engineering Lead in the Nuclear; Defence and Civil division. You will work in a client‑facing role, driving the full front‑end engineering process from feasibility to detailed design, across multi‑discipline projects such as nuclear decommissioning, defence and other energy and infrastructure projects. The role includes line management, client engagement to develop opportunities and support the development of engineers within the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering aspects of multi‑discipline design projects.

• Provide quality assurance of others’ work by surveillance and checking.

• Liaise with clients to develop the best solutions to meet their needs.

• Produce design and technical documentation, visit client sites as necessary, and pursue and promote further opportunities with the client.

• Support and guide junior members of the team, mentoring more junior engineers.

• Ensure safety is integral to process engineering design.

• Actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, facility and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications:

  • Line management responsibilities for the nuclear process team.
  • Chartered status with the IChemE or other relevant professional body.
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards and legislation.
  • Technical chemical/process engineering experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in process engineering design.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects.
  • Client‑facing experience and commercial awareness of FEED projects.
  • Experience of supporting or mentoring more junior engineers.

Additional qualifications: Experience in nuclear decommissioning and/or defence projects is desirable.
