Our Energy Unit leads WIN and DO work in all Energy Market and Nuclear Defence market projects, working at the forefront of the energy transition to ensure safe, stable, sustainable energy is available for future generations. Our multidisciplinary teams provide services throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to construction support and site supervision, across electrical transition, nuclear, hydropower, offshore wind, and other energy projects in the UK and Europe.

As a Geotechnical Engineer in our growing Energy Unit geotechnical team, you will work with a range of public and private sector clients on key projects across the UK, Europe and beyond. You will undertake work on energy projects and contribute to tasks such as:
- Ground investigation preparation of scope, specifications, interpretation and verification of ground investigation data for a ground model to assist in design
- Geotechnical desk studies, preliminary assessments and reviews of existing geotechnical reporting
- Investigation contractor management on site and in the office, including reviewing RAMS and monitoring health and safety compliance
- Preparing geotechnical interpretative and geotechnical design reports
- Geotechnical analysis, including ground modelling and analysis software
- Collaborating with engineers from other disciplines to produce integrated geotechnical assessments
- Assessing geotechnical hazards and risks to projects and communicating appropriate solutions
- Responding to technical queries and requests for information and forwarding to relevant designers
- Supporting proposals and production of client tender packages
Candidate specification
Essential
- Degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (or similar)
- Experience in energy developments, ideally in one of the following sectors: Transmission and Distribution (T&D) networks, Energy generation (renewables, hydro and thermal), Nuclear
- Demonstrable experience in ground investigation site works
- Experience of CDM regulations
- Demonstrable experience in foundation geotechnical design
- Knowledge of Eurocodes, BS Standards and local regulations
- Environmental and sustainability considerations in geotechnical design
- Good communication skills in English

You should display a willingness to take on new challenges and work confidently on tasks aligned to your prior experience. Strong written communication skills including report writing and good client-facing communication are important.
