We have an opportunity for driven and ambitious students looking to gain practical experience in our Electrical & Plant team based in our Altrincham and/or Manchester office. Our industrial placement opportunities are for 10 to 12 months and carried out during a year out from university, or after completion of a bachelor's, and before enrolling onto a postgraduate course.

As a member of our Electrical & Plant Team, you will be involved in the delivery of consultancy and design services on a wide range of diverse UK projects, providing a unique chance for you to engage in projects that align with your academic interests and career goals. You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

We do not have a formal structure for our placement programmes so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us. The work will involve the design of low voltage electrical systems for railways, on large and small projects, and throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility studies to detailed design. You will have a part to play in developing designs and specifications, all while working with an experienced team to guide you on the way.

Candidate Specification

To join us for this industrial placement you must currently be enrolled at university and be undertaking one of the following degree courses, or similar:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

We are looking for a student with the following characteristics:

  • A methodical approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
